Too hot to cook!

Samantha here! This week we’ve seen some pretty sky high temperatures, and Washington natives like me are developing real aversions to the stovetop oven, aka furnace in a hothouse. But fear not. Farm goodies shine on the grill.

Asada Spring Onions, grilled to perfection are sweet and crunchy. Use them as an easy side dish for onion lovers, or chop them up to bring pasta and potato salads to life.

Grill peaches and apricots–not too long, just enough to turn them into dessert.

Drizzle garlic scapes in olive oil, throw them on the grill for 2-3 minutes each side for a mild garlic flavor and crisp texture. Combine with new potatoes like this–yum.

And microwaves work wonders in heat too. Seriously though!

Load up a tortilla with Golden Glen Creamery shredded cheese and top with thinly sliced veggies (zucchini, tomato, shredded carrots, spring onions) for a farmers’ market quesadilla. Pesto is a wow-worthy addition.

You can even poach eggs in the microwave. It’s super super easy, and according to Bon Apetit, perfectly legit culinary stuff.

So there you have it. No reason to let your yummy CSA and farm goodies sit in the fridge–possibilities are endless, no oven required.
